Father’s Day is a holiday that creeps up on you. One day you’re stressing over what to get Dad, and the next you’re trying to secure a reservation before every restaurant in town books up solid. We compiled a list of 22 Father’s Day events, brunches, dinners, and special offers taking place around southeastern Connecticut and southwestern Rhode Island to help simplify your search.
A trend we noticed when compiling this list: Buffets are hard to come by on Father’s Day this year. Water’s Edge booked up fast, and Fresh Salt by the Sea at Saybrook Point Resort & Marina is quickly approaching capacity. Instead, restaurants across the region are offering specialty menus. Attractions, breweries, and farms are even offering experiences that focus on spending quality time with your dad, instead of just sitting down for a formal meal.
Here are six of our favorites:
Father’s Day Brunch Buffet at Fresh Salt
This waterfront brunch boasts lobster eggs Benedict, ribeye carving stations, crab cakes, waffles, desserts, and water views.
Recognizing Dads & Grads at Olde Mistick Village
A weekend celebration featuring live music, a photo contest, and a chance to win a prize package worth more than $700, including Fenway tickets and prizes from Village shops.
Father’s Day at The Dinosaur Place
Spend Father’s Day exploring one of New England’s largest dinosaur-themed attractions at The Dinosaur Place.
Father’s Day Fun in the Trees at TreeTrails Adventures
Skip the necktie. Dads climb free when they tackle zip lines and aerial obstacles alongside their families.
Father’s Day BBQ at Outer Light Brewing Company
Free burgers and hot dogs start at 2 p.m., plus beer specials and a paint-your-own pint glass activity for kids.
Sunday Chill: Father’s Day Pig Roast at Stone Acres Farm
Live music, Southern barbecue, lawn games, cocktails, and a pig roast from 3 p.m. until sunset.
These are just six of the 22 Father’s Day events, brunches, dinners, and specials we found across southeastern Connecticut and southwestern Rhode Island. Check out our Father’s Day Event Guide for the full list.
And one more thing. Sure, the meal, the gift, and the activity are great. But years from now, most fathers won’t remember what you ate or drank. They’ll remember who was there. Sharing a table with loved ones can sometimes be the best gift you give on Father’s Day.
