Mastering Craft Mixology
Mastering Craft Mixology invites cocktail lovers to sharpen their bartending skills during an immersive hands-on class focused on the techniques, ingredients, and small details that separate ordinary drinks from true craft cocktails. Led by Chef Anthony Caporale, Director of Spirits Education at New York’s Institute of Culinary Education, the event explores the history, science, and strategy behind some of the world’s most iconic cocktails while helping participants learn how to recreate elevated bar-quality drinks at home.
Throughout the evening, guests will prepare and sample a lineup of classic cocktails including a Craft Old Fashioned, a Classic Daiquiri, and an upgraded Espresso Martini while learning the methods professional bartenders use to balance flavor, texture, dilution, and presentation. A curated selection of spirits provided by Spencer & Lynn Wine and Spirit Merchants in downtown Mystic adds another layer to the experience, helping attendees experiment with unique ingredients while building confidence behind the bar.
Caporale brings an unusually deep mix of culinary, historical, and entertainment experience to the class. In addition to his longtime role at the Institute of Culinary Education, he has appeared on The Smithsonian Channel, worked with major beverage companies, authored cocktail education materials, and created “The Imbible,” one of the longest-running Off-Broadway productions centered around cocktail history and spirits culture. The class also includes an exclusive after-hours shopping event with 15% off purchases following the session.
