Event Description
TRICK OR TREAT in the Borough of Stonington brings the magic of Halloween to historic Water Street on Saturday, October 31, as children dressed as witches, superheroes, ghosts, and storybook characters take to the streets for an evening of trick-or-treating.
From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., families are invited to celebrate Halloween in one of southeastern Connecticut’s most picturesque coastal communities, where historic buildings, neighborhood charm, and the excitement of the holiday create a memorable setting for young trick-or-treaters.
Presented by the Stonington Borough Merchants Association and the Stonington Village Improvement Association, the celebration offers children and parents an opportunity to enjoy Halloween together in the heart of the Borough.
A Halloween Evening on Historic Water Street
Few places in the region offer quite the same atmosphere as Stonington Borough.
Its narrow streets, historic architecture, waterfront surroundings, and collection of distinctive storefronts give the neighborhood a character all its own.
On Halloween night, that familiar setting becomes the backdrop for an evening of costumes, candy collecting, and family fun.
Water Street is the center of the celebration, inviting families to explore the Borough while children enjoy one of the most anticipated traditions of the season.
The event’s colorful promotional artwork captures the spirit of the evening, depicting costumed children, glowing jack-o’-lanterns, and the Borough’s recognizable coastal scenery beneath a Halloween moon.
Costumes, Candy, and Childhood Memories
For children, Halloween is all about the excitement of choosing a costume, carrying a treat bag, and discovering what surprises await around the next corner.
The Borough’s celebration embraces that tradition, welcoming young trick-or-treaters and their families for two hours of Halloween festivities.
From tiny pumpkins and friendly monsters to elaborate superheroes and imaginative homemade creations, costumes are at the heart of the evening.
Parents can join their children in costume or simply enjoy watching the neighborhood fill with Halloween characters.
The event is designed around the simple pleasures of the holiday: dressing up, spending time together, and creating memories that families can revisit year after year.
A Community Halloween Tradition
The celebration is supported by two organizations with longstanding ties to the Borough.
The Stonington Borough Merchants Association represents the local business community, while the Stonington Village Improvement Association works to preserve and enhance the character of the historic village.
Together, they help bring a community-focused Halloween evening to Water Street.
For residents, it’s an opportunity to enjoy a familiar neighborhood tradition. For visiting families, it offers a chance to experience the charm of Stonington Borough during one of the most festive evenings of the year.
Celebrate Halloween by the Shore
Trick-or-treating takes place Saturday, October 31, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. along Water Street in Stonington Borough.
Families should plan for an outdoor evening and dress appropriately for late-October weather. Comfortable walking shoes and a flashlight may also be helpful as daylight fades.
With its historic surroundings and family-friendly atmosphere, the Borough offers a charming setting for children to enjoy Halloween night.
