Event Description
Halloween Potions at Kitch invites cocktail lovers to trade their witch’s cauldrons for cocktail shakers on Saturday, October 31, when internationally recognized mixology educator Anthony Caporale leads a Halloween-inspired cocktail class in Mystic.
From 6 to 8 p.m., participants will learn to prepare three seasonal creations — the Pumpkin Spice Martini, Cranberry Monster Mash, and Chocolate Lovers Potion — while discovering techniques for mixing memorable drinks at home.
Held at Kitch on Coogan Boulevard, the $65 class combines professional cocktail instruction, imaginative Halloween flavors, and a special after-hours shopping opportunity. Spirits for the evening are provided by Spencer & Lynn Wine and Spirit Merchants of downtown Mystic.
Costumes are optional but encouraged, making this a festive alternative to the traditional Halloween party.
Three Bewitching Cocktails to Stir Up Halloween
The evening’s cocktail menu takes inspiration from the flavors and playful spirit of Halloween.
The Pumpkin Spice Martini puts a spirited twist on one of autumn’s most recognizable flavors, while the Cranberry Monster Mash brings a fruity, Halloween-themed creation to the lineup.
For guests with a sweet tooth, the Chocolate Lovers Potion rounds out the experience with a chocolate-inspired cocktail that sounds like something straight from a witch’s recipe book.
Under Caporale’s guidance, participants will learn how to prepare each featured drink while exploring the techniques and ingredients that go into creating a well-balanced cocktail.
The class is designed to offer more than a collection of recipes. It’s an opportunity to develop practical mixology skills while enjoying a creative evening with fellow cocktail enthusiasts.
Learn From a Mixology Expert With Mystic Connections
Anthony Caporale brings an extensive background in beverage education, cocktail history, and the science of alcoholic drinks.
An internationally recognized author and educator, he has served as Director of Spirits Education and Research at the Institute of Culinary Education and has developed theatrical productions exploring the history and culture of cocktails.
His work includes The Imbible, an off-Broadway musical series combining cocktail history, live entertainment, and audience education.
Caporale also has a connection to the Mystic area through his work curating Temperance and Trade, an exhibition at Mystic Seaport Museum examining the history of alcohol and its relationship to American maritime commerce.
That combination of professional expertise, historical knowledge, and entertaining presentation makes him a fitting guide for an evening devoted to Halloween potions.
A Little Shopping Magic After the Final Sip
The experience doesn’t end when the last cocktail has been mixed.
Registration includes access to Kitch’s exclusive Last Call Shopping Spree, offering participants 15% off purchases made after class.
Guests can browse the store’s kitchenware, culinary accessories, and entertaining essentials while taking advantage of the special discount.
For anyone inspired to recreate the evening’s cocktails at home, it’s an opportunity to explore equipment and accessories for future gatherings.
