| Thursday, April 30, 2026 Welcome to all the new subscribers joining us for Week 2 of The CT Beacon. This weekend is packed, with over 40 events happening across southeastern Connecticut—and a few just over the line into southern New England that are worth the drive. You can feel it now… spring’s here. Markets are opening, gardens are waking up, and everything’s starting to move outside again. From spring strolls and farmers’ markets to herb shows and even an ox pull, it’s one of those weekends where there’s no excuse to stay in. Saturday also brings the 152nd Kentucky Derby, the first leg of the Triple Crown, with the main race going off at 6:57 PM. There are a couple of local Derby events if you want to catch the atmosphere without heading to Churchill Downs. For what it’s worth, I’ve got my eye on Renegade—ridden by Irad Ortiz Jr. and trained by Todd Pletcher. We’re also adding something new this week: The Movies (yes, we spent a full 30 seconds on that name), a quick look at what’s worth seeing in theaters and what you can safely skip. And as always, if you’ve got an event to share, send it to hello@thectbeacon.com. Have a good weekend. |
