Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis brings one of the world’s premier jazz ensembles to southeastern Connecticut on Saturday, June 27. The performance is part of the lead-up to Marsalis’ final season as Artistic Director of Jazz at Lincoln Center and Music Director of the renowned orchestra, making this a particularly meaningful opportunity for jazz fans to experience one of the most influential figures in American music.

Led by Pulitzer Prize-winning trumpeter, composer, educator, and cultural ambassador Wynton Marsalis, the 15-member Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra has served as the resident orchestra of Jazz at Lincoln Center since 1988. Known for its extraordinary musicianship and versatility, the ensemble performs everything from historic jazz masterworks by Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Thelonious Monk, Charles Mingus, and Dizzy Gillespie to contemporary compositions and original works created by members of the orchestra itself.

Marsalis, a New Orleans native and graduate of The Juilliard School, is widely regarded as one of the most important figures in modern jazz. Through thousands of performances across more than 60 countries, he has become a leading advocate for jazz as an American art form rooted in creativity, collaboration, discipline, and optimism. Audiences can expect an evening of world-class musicianship featuring some of the finest soloists and ensemble performers in jazz today.
