George Porter Jr. and The Runnin Pardners at the Milestone Mystic brings one of funk music’s true pioneers to southeastern Connecticut on Sunday, July 26, from 8:00 to 11:30 p.m. The legendary bassist, singer, and founding member of The Meters will perform with his acclaimed band, The Runnin Pardners, for an intimate evening of New Orleans funk, R&B, soul, and blues at Milestone Mystic. Dinner service will be available before the show, and reservations are recommended.
Widely regarded as one of the architects of modern funk, George Porter Jr. helped define the unmistakable sound of The Meters, whose groundbreaking grooves influenced generations of musicians across funk, rock, hip-hop, and R&B. Over a career spanning more than five decades, Porter has performed and recorded with artists including Paul McCartney, Jimmy Buffett, David Byrne, Patti LaBelle, Tori Amos, Warren Haynes, and many others while continuing to tour internationally with The Runnin Pardners. Their live performances blend New Orleans rhythms, deep improvisation, and classic funk into a high-energy show that has made the band a favorite at major music festivals and venues across the country.
