24th Annual River Glow
The 24th Annual River Glow returns to downtown Westerly-Pawcatuck on Saturday, August 1, from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m., transforming the banks of the Pawcatuck River into one of southern New England’s most enchanting summer celebrations. Presented by the Ocean Community Chamber of Commerce, the free annual event draws thousands of visitors to experience the unforgettable sight of glowing bonfires floating on the river while enjoying an evening filled with live entertainment, local food, and family-friendly activities.
The festivities begin in Donahue Park, where visitors can browse local artisans, enjoy a variety of food vendors, and take part in activities for all ages before exploring the rest of downtown. Throughout the evening, live music fills the streets while steel drum performances create a tropical atmosphere alongside captivating entertainment including fire juggling, circus acts, and belly dancing. As darkness falls, the floating bonfires illuminate the Pawcatuck River, creating the magical spectacle that has made River Glow a beloved community tradition for more than two decades.
Stretching across the neighboring communities of Westerly, Rhode Island, and Pawcatuck, Connecticut, River Glow celebrates the unique connection between the two downtowns and showcases the vibrant businesses, restaurants, and waterfront setting that define the region. Whether you’re visiting for the entertainment, the food, or simply to watch the glowing fires reflect across the river, River Glow offers an unforgettable summer evening for the entire family.
