Farm-fresh veggies. Locally crafted goodies. Even a bacon festival. This weekend, there are plenty of excuses to avoid the grocery store and check out what’s happening in towns around the shore. From pick-your-own tomato farms to weekend markets bursting with locally-made goods, here’s where to find everything that makes summer eating along the shoreline so delicious.

And the best part about each? They’re completely unique. One is your typical Saturday-morning community market. Another celebrates…bacon. Party like it’s…well, you know. Last one is a casual Sunday afternoon affair where you can shop Connecticut farmers and food producers.

Stonington Village Farmers Market
Saturday, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Half farmers market. Half community celebration. The Stonington Village Farmers Market is a Saturday morning institution for thousands of shoreline dwellers. Peruse farm-fresh veggies, seafood, breads, flowers, cheeses, prepared meals, local artisan crafts, and more. Enjoy live music inside and outside under the iconic Velvet Mill roof. Shop with a list or stroll with a latte. It’s one of the best places to hang out on a Saturday morning.

Connecticut Bacon Festival 2026
Saturday & Sunday, 11 a.m.
Does your ideal weekend involve “the other white meat”? If so, then this festival is for you. At the Connecticut Bacon Festival at Lebanon Fairgrounds, bacon takes center stage with bacon-themed dishes from restaurants and food trucks, specialty vendors, entertainment, contests, games, and family-friendly activities. Whether you like your bacon dishes sweet or salty, there will be plenty of bacon to go around.

Denison Farmers Market
Sunday, 12 p.m. – 3 p.m.
We love Denison Farmers Market because it takes place right here in Mystic and gives us a chance to meet the growers who provide us with so much local, seasonal food. It’s a great way to find out about food producers in your area and buy fresh, Connecticut-grown goods from local artisans. The Denison Farmers Market is a laid-back Sunday afternoon tradition that shoppers return to again and again for high-quality products and a strong sense of community.

Whether stocking up your market bag, scouting out new favorite farmers/vendors, or seeing how much bacon-based goods one human can actually eat, there are lots of good reasons to eat and shop local this weekend. Just remember to skip breakfast.
