The Chorus of Westerly and Salt Marsh Opera presents the Brooklyn Youth Chorus
The Chorus of Westerly and Salt Marsh Opera presents the Brooklyn Youth Chorus for an evening of internationally recognized choral performance at The George Kent Performance Hall on Saturday, June 6. Led by Founder and Artistic Director Dianne Berkun Menaker, Brooklyn Youth Chorus has earned a global reputation for pushing the artistic boundaries of contemporary choral music through collaborations, commissions, and large-scale performances that blend classical tradition with modern experimentation.
Over the past three decades, the ensemble has appeared on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including Carnegie Hall and Madison Square Garden, while collaborating with artists and organizations ranging from the New York Philharmonic to Sir Elton John and Bon Iver. Known for championing new music, the chorus has premiered more than 140 original works by influential contemporary composers, including Philip Glass and Caroline Shaw, helping establish the group as one of the country’s most innovative youth vocal ensembles.
The performance will also feature a special appearance by the Chorus of Westerly’s Junior and Full Choristers, members of the organization’s longstanding Children’s Program who regularly perform alongside the Symphonic Chorus throughout the year. The concert brings together regional arts organizations and nationally recognized performers for a night focused on musical excellence, youth performance, and the evolving future of choral music in New England and beyond.
