One of the most easily identifiable figures playing blues-tinged rock these days, Popa Chubby has been gaining deserved notoriety since the early eighties with sweaty rock-n-roll/blues shows infused with soul and blazing guitar.
Popa Chubby, the stage name of Canadian-born guitarist and singer Eric Bernox, is known worldwide for his explosive energy and eclectic mixture of electric blues, hard rock, soul music and jaw-dropping guitar virtuosity. Emerging from New York City’s thriving club scene many years ago, Popa quickly became recognized as a blistering performer with a wide array of influences. Sporting a style that has been described as “Muddy Waters meets Buddy Guy and runs over Joe Bonamassa with a rock-n-roll truck,” Popa’s frenetic live shows include high-octane solos, gritty vocals, and plenty of entertainment value.
