Event Description

Paint Mystic Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness returns to downtown Mystic on October 17 and 18, transforming the village into a display of pink flags, community support, and personal tributes to those affected by breast cancer. Organized by the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Little Pink Houses of Hope and the Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer Foundation, the two-day initiative brings local businesses and residents together during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

One of the weekend’s most meaningful traditions is the return of pink flags lining downtown sidewalks. For a $50 donation, participants can reserve a 3-by-5-foot flag, decorate it, and dedicate it to someone whose life has been touched by breast cancer. Some flags may celebrate survivors, others honor loved ones who have died, and still others offer encouragement to people undergoing treatment.

Once completed, the flags will be mounted on poles along Mystic’s streets, creating a public display of remembrance, resilience, and hope. Participants may retrieve their decorated flags after October 18 to keep as personal mementos.

Downtown businesses will also participate through fundraising activities, specialty merchandise, treats, and other promotions supporting the cause. Visitors can spend time exploring Mystic’s shops and restaurants while supporting local merchants and two organizations working to improve the lives of people affected by breast cancer.

Little Pink Houses of Hope provides free vacation retreats for breast cancer patients and their families, offering opportunities to reconnect away from the demands of treatment. The Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer Foundation raises money to support breast cancer research, with an emphasis on advancing efforts toward a cure.

All proceeds raised through Paint Mystic Pink will directly benefit these two organizations, giving participants an opportunity to support both families navigating breast cancer and the scientific research aimed at defeating it.

Whether you sponsor a flag, make a donation, or simply spend part of the weekend downtown, Paint Mystic Pink offers a way to turn a familiar village into a visible expression of community support.
