Event Description
Trick or Treat in the Village returns to Olde Mistick Village on Saturday, October 31, inviting families to celebrate Halloween with an afternoon of costumes, candy, and old-fashioned trick-or-treating in one of Mystic’s most recognizable shopping destinations.
From 4 to 6 p.m., children dressed as ghosts, goblins, superheroes, princesses, and just about anything else their imaginations can dream up can stroll along the village’s pedestrian walkways, collecting treats from participating shopkeepers.
With its collection of specialty shops, winding paths, and charming New England architecture, Olde Mistick Village offers a festive alternative to traditional neighborhood trick-or-treating.
And there’s a little something for the family dog, too: Costumed pups are welcome to join the Halloween outing.
A Village Full of Halloween Treats
Halloween is all about the excitement of dressing up, heading out with a candy bucket, and discovering what surprises await around the next corner.
At Olde Mistick Village, that familiar tradition takes on a different setting.
Instead of walking from house to house, young trick-or-treaters can visit participating businesses throughout the open-air shopping village, where shop owners will be handing out candy.
The event gives children an opportunity to show off their costumes while enjoying the anticipation of collecting treats at each stop.
Whether they’re dressed as classic Halloween monsters, favorite movie characters, storybook royalty, or imaginative creations of their own, everyone is invited to join the fun.
Halloween in a Storybook New England Setting
Part of the appeal is the setting itself.
Olde Mistick Village is designed to resemble a traditional New England village, with distinctive buildings, specialty storefronts, and pedestrian paths that encourage visitors to explore at a leisurely pace.
On Halloween, those walkways become a route for costumed families making their way from shop to shop.
Parents can enjoy the village atmosphere while children concentrate on the important business of filling their candy bags.
The compact shopping environment also makes it easy for families to explore at their own pace, stopping whenever little legs need a break.
Bring the Whole Family — Including the Dog
This Halloween celebration isn’t just for children.
Parents, grandparents, and other family members can enjoy watching the parade of costumes as youngsters make their way through the village.
Four-legged family members are welcome, too.
Organizers encourage visitors to bring their dogs in costume, adding another playful element to the afternoon.
A pumpkin-clad pup, a canine superhero, or a dog wearing a festive Halloween bandana could fit right in among the costumed children.
It’s an opportunity to include more of the family in the holiday tradition.
Make an Evening of It
Families don’t have to rush home as soon as the candy collecting is finished.
Olde Mistick Village is home to a variety of restaurants, making it easy to combine trick-or-treating with an early dinner or a stop for refreshments.
Visitors can take a break between shops, enjoy something to eat, and turn the outing into a relaxed Halloween evening.
The combination of trick-or-treating, shopping, dining, and seasonal atmosphere makes the event an appealing choice for families looking to celebrate without an elaborate itinerary.
A Sweet Halloween Tradition in Mystic
For families who enjoy the excitement of Halloween but want a change from the usual neighborhood route, Trick or Treat in the Village offers a welcoming way to celebrate.
The event combines the familiar pleasures of costumes and candy with the atmosphere of a popular Mystic destination.
And because it takes place on Halloween itself, children won’t have to wait another day to put their costumes to good use.
Trick or Treat in the Village runs from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, at Olde Mistick Village, 27 Coogan Boulevard in Mystic.
Bring the costumes, grab the candy buckets, and get ready for a sweet afternoon of Halloween fun.
