Old Saybrook Memorial Day Parade

May 25 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Old Saybrook Memorial Day Parade May 25

Old Saybrook Memorial Day Parade returns on Memorial Day morning with a community procession and ceremony honoring the service and sacrifice of American military members. Parade assembly begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Stop & Shop parking lot off Elm Street before stepping off promptly at 10 a.m. The route travels across Route 1 to Main Street and continues toward the Veterans Memorial Monuments on the Town Green, where the morning’s memorial program will take place.

The annual Old Saybrook Memorial Day Parade brings together veterans groups, local organizations, families, and residents for one of the shoreline town’s most meaningful civic traditions. Spectators typically gather throughout downtown as marching groups move through the historic center of town beneath American flags and the atmosphere of Memorial Day weekend along the Connecticut shoreline. While the event carries the familiar feeling of a hometown parade, its focus remains firmly rooted in remembrance and honoring those who lost their lives in military service.

This year’s memorial program will feature Gil Simmons, U.S. Marine Corps veteran and chief meteorologist for WTNH, serving as master of ceremonies. In the event of rain, the parade may be canceled, but the memorial ceremony will still be held at 10 a.m. inside Old Saybrook Fire Department headquarters at 310 Main Street, ensuring the community’s observance continues regardless of weather.
