Nick Bosse & The Northern Roots at Preston Ridge Vineyard brings the North Stonington country singer and his full band to Preston on Saturday, August 15, for a summer evening of country, Southern rock and bluegrass overlooking the vineyard. This is a different experience from Bosse’s smaller solo and duo appearances around southeastern Connecticut. The Northern Roots expands his songs with a full-band sound built around electric guitar and rhythm section, with the group’s musical history also incorporating fiddle, pedal steel, upright bass, banjo, mandolin and harmonica. Nick Bosse Goes Full Band
Bosse has become one of the more recognizable country performers to come out of southeastern Connecticut in recent years.
The North Stonington singer-songwriter draws from traditional country, Southern rock and bluegrass rather than leaning heavily into contemporary country-pop. His influences stretch from Merle Haggard to Tyler Childers, and his songs tend to stay close to the storytelling side of country music. (CTvisit)
His best-known recording, “What Happened to Country,” arrived in 2021 and has now passed 2 million streams. Bosse has also performed at Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun and developed a busy schedule of concerts throughout Connecticut and Rhode Island. (CTvisit)
There is new music for 2026 as well. Nick Bosse & The Northern Roots released a five-song self-titled EP in May, giving the band fresh material heading into its summer shows.
The Northern Roots
Bosse formed The Northern Roots with drummer John Spaulding in 2014, building a band of musicians from Connecticut and Rhode Island around his country songwriting.
The group’s broader instrumentation is where Bosse’s different influences begin to meet. Fiddle and pedal steel can push the music toward traditional country, while electric guitar and drums give the live show considerably more weight. Banjo, mandolin and upright bass have also been part of the band’s sound.
For someone who’s caught Bosse playing one of his many acoustic dates around the region, Saturday’s Preston Ridge appearance offers the larger version of the act.
A Summer Music Night at Preston Ridge
Preston Ridge Vineyard sits on a ridge at 100 Miller Road in Preston, surrounded by vines and open countryside.
The family-owned vineyard has developed live music into a regular part of its warmer-weather calendar, usually hosting regional musicians on Fridays and Sundays. The Nick Bosse concert is one of its larger Summer Music Nights, with a Saturday evening time slot and separate admission.
The property combines its tasting room with broad outdoor spaces and vineyard views. For this concert, guests should bring their own lawn chairs and can set up beneath the event tent.
It makes for a fairly simple Saturday night: claim a spot, pour a glass of local wine, unpack a picnic and listen to a Connecticut country band for three hours.
Food, Wine and What You Can Bring
Preston Ridge will have wine and craft beer available for purchase during the concert. Food will also be available.
Guests are permitted to bring their own food, so packing a picnic is fine.
The important restriction is alcohol. Outside alcohol isn’t permitted anywhere on the property. Wine and beer must be purchased from Preston Ridge. Guests must be 21 or older to consume alcohol.
Tickets Are Sold by the Car
This one has an unusual admission setup that’s particularly useful for groups.
Tickets are $35 per car in advance and $40 per car on site.
So four friends arriving together aren’t paying $35 each. They’re paying $35 for the vehicle.
Preston Ridge states that tickets for its ticketed events are non-refundable.
