Nature Night Out at the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center

Nature Night Out at the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center gives kids ages 6–12 an evening of outdoor adventure, animal encounters, and campfire fun in Mystic while parents enjoy a night off. Held at Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center, the program invites children to explore the outdoors through hands-on nature activities, interactive games, live animal experiences, and an evening hike through the nature center’s trails. Designed as both an educational and social experience, the event combines outdoor exploration with the excitement of staying out after dark in one of the region’s most scenic wooded settings.

Throughout the evening, participants will take part in guided activities focused on nature, wildlife, and environmental discovery while also meeting some of the Nature Center’s resident animals up close. As daylight fades, the group heads out for a flashlight-assisted evening hike, adding an extra sense of adventure to the experience. Organizers encourage children to dress for the weather and come prepared for time outdoors as the event moves between trails, activity spaces, and campfire gathering areas.

The night wraps up around the fire with pizza and s’mores, giving the event the feel of a classic summer camp evening mixed with hands-on environmental learning. Nature Night Out continues to be one of the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center’s more popular youth programs, offering families in SE Connecticut a fun and active evening experience centered around outdoor exploration and nature connection.
