Movie Night at the Stonington Vineyards 2026
Movie Night at the Stonington Vineyards 2026 brings The Parent Trap to the lawn at Stonington Vineyards on Saturday, August 29, for a family-friendly evening of wine, food, popcorn, and an outdoor movie after sunset.
Guests can arrive beginning at 6 p.m. to claim a spot on the lawn and enjoy the vineyard before the movie. Sunset is expected around 7:20 p.m., with the film beginning once it’s dark enough for the outdoor screen.
This year’s selection is the 1998 Disney favorite The Parent Trap.
Lindsay Lohan Meets Lindsay Lohan
The Parent Trap introduced much of the world to an 11-year-old Lindsay Lohan, who pulled double duty playing identical twins Hallie Parker and Annie James.
The girls don’t know the other exists when they arrive at the same summer camp. After a rocky introduction, they discover they’re twins who were separated as babies when their parents divorced.
Then comes the plan.
Hallie heads to London pretending to be Annie. Annie travels to California pretending to be Hallie. Each gets to meet the parent she never knew, while secretly plotting to reunite their mother and father.
Lohan’s dual performance became the centerpiece of a movie that also starred Dennis Quaid as their father, Nick Parker, and Natasha Richardson as their mother, Elizabeth James.
Directed and co-written by Nancy Meyers, the film was a remake of Disney’s 1961 The Parent Trap starring Hayley Mills.
Nearly three decades after its release, the 1998 version has become a nostalgic favorite in its own right.
Start With an Afternoon at the Vineyard
There’s actually a reason to arrive considerably earlier than the movie requires.
Stonington Vineyards has another event happening on the property Saturday afternoon.
The vineyard’s Summer Pop-Up runs from noon to 4 p.m., with local additions to the usual tasting-room experience.
On August 29, Ethan Cash performs live music from 3 to 6 p.m., while Fire in the Kitchen Pizza will be serving food.
That means someone looking to make a day of it can spend the afternoon at the vineyard, hear live music and grab pizza before settling onto the lawn for the movie.
The official Movie Night arrival begins at 6 p.m.
Wine and Popcorn Are Included
Adult tickets aren’t simply admission to the movie.
Tickets purchased for guests 21 and older include a glass of Stonington Vineyards wine along with the movie and popcorn.
Adult admission is $22 when purchased in advance and $25 at the door.
Children’s tickets are $8 in advance or $10 at the door and include the movie and popcorn.
Advance sales close Friday, August 28 at 5 p.m.
Tickets are non-refundable.
Bring Your Own Seat
The vineyard provides the movie.
You provide the living room.
Guests should bring blankets or lawn chairs and find a comfortable place on the grass before the movie begins.
And don’t let the August date fool you.
Stonington Vineyards specifically recommends bringing a sweatshirt. Once the sun disappears behind the vines and fields, a warm summer afternoon can turn into a considerably cooler night.
It’s part of what makes an outdoor movie different.
There are no theater seats. No walls. No ceiling.
Just a blanket on the lawn, a bag of popcorn and a movie screen glowing after dark.
A Vineyard With Deep Stonington Roots
Stonington Vineyards has been producing wine in southeastern Connecticut since the 1980s, making it one of the state’s established farm wineries.
The property along Taugwonk Road provides a particularly natural setting for an outdoor movie. The tasting room opens onto a landscape of vineyard rows and open grounds rather than a parking lot or commercial entertainment complex.
Movie Night has become one of the vineyard’s recurring summer traditions, combining that setting with something simple enough for almost anyone to understand.
Come early.
Eat something.
Have a glass of wine.
Then find a spot on the grass before Lindsay Lohan meets Lindsay Lohan.
