Dr. G & the Believers at Lighthouse Inn
Dr. G & the Believers at Lighthouse Inn bring an evening of blues, soul, and dance music to one of New London’s most historic waterfront landmarks on Friday, July 17. Performing from 6 to 9 p.m., the veteran New England band will fill the grounds of the beautifully restored Lighthouse Inn with high-energy blues and classic rhythm and blues designed to keep audiences on their feet.
Known for their “hip-shakin'” blues dance party, Dr. G & the Believers perform a lively mix of blues classics and blues-infused favorites inspired by legendary artists including Junior Wells, Howlin’ Wolf, Muddy Waters, Ray Charles, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, and Robert Cray. Fronted by harmonica player and vocalist Bob Garofalo, the band features James Correira on bass, Raynor Roberts on guitar and vocals, Steve Smiegel on drums, and Joel Caputo on saxophone, creating a full, energetic sound that has entertained audiences throughout New England for years.
The concert takes place at the historic Lighthouse Inn, originally built in 1902 as the summer estate of steel magnate Charles S. Guthrie. Later converted into an inn in 1927, the Colonial Revival landmark became a favorite destination for Hollywood stars during the 1940s and remains one of New London’s most recognizable historic properties.
