Between Worlds Opens in October With an Evening of Spirit and Intuition at Rum Tropic
Between Worlds Opens in October With an Evening of Spirit and Intuition at Rum Tropic Oct. 2, when Psychic Moon Mentor Kaitlyn leads a two-hour workshop exploring intuition, spirit communication, and what organizers describe as energetic awareness.
The 6 to 8 p.m. gathering at Rum Tropic Distillery in Stonington is designed for people the organizers describe as “empaths, intuitives and spiritually curious.” Rather than staging a psychic show with an audience watching from their seats, Between Worlds is being presented as a participatory workshop and community gathering.
Participants will explore how Kaitlyn believes people can recognize intuitive impressions, become more aware of feelings and perceived messages, and develop greater trust in their own intuition.
For believers, it offers an opportunity to explore practices they may already use. For the simply curious, it’s a chance to see how those practices are taught without committing to a one-on-one reading.
Intuition Rather Than Fortune-Telling
The language surrounding Between Worlds is notable for what it doesn’t emphasize.
The workshop centers on recognizing intuition, exploring spirit communication and becoming more confident interpreting personal feelings and impressions.
Kaitlyn works professionally as Psychic Moon Mentor, offering psychic readings and intuitive experiences around Connecticut and New England. Her work also appears in other regional events: later in October, she’s scheduled to operate a potion-making station during Dock 9’s Halloween celebration at the Velvet Mills.
She’s previously collaborated with Tox Brewing in New London on Sips, Spells, and Sight, an event combining readings, intention-setting and spell-jar making.
Between Worlds takes a quieter approach.
Organizers describe the evening as being as much about finding community as learning techniques — particularly for people who identify as highly intuitive or sensitive and may not regularly have a place to discuss those experiences.
The Science and the Spiritual
It’s worth drawing a line between the experience being offered and what science can establish.
Intuition itself is real in the ordinary psychological sense: people routinely make rapid judgments based on experience, pattern recognition and information they may not be consciously analyzing.
Claims of communicating with spirits or obtaining information through psychic abilities are different. They have not been established as scientifically reliable phenomena under controlled testing.
That doesn’t prevent people from finding personal, spiritual or cultural meaning in practices involving mediumship, divination or intuition. Between Worlds is best understood in that context: a workshop exploring those beliefs and experiences rather than a scientific demonstration of them.
And the setting provides an unusual counterpoint.
Rum, Intuition and an Old Mill
Rum Tropic Distillery operates inside The Velvet Mill at 22 Bayview Avenue, the sprawling former textile complex that has become home to artists, makers, food businesses, shops and other small businesses.
Rum Tropic describes itself as a small-batch cane distillery that combines science and creativity in its approach to spirits. It produces rum and vodka using natural flavoring ingredients and its own proprietary smoothing process.
That creates a somewhat unexpected pairing for Friday night: a distillery that talks openly about experimentation and the science of making spirits hosting an evening devoted to another kind of “spirits.”
Drinks from Rum Tropic will be available for purchase during the workshop.
Starting Halloween Month Between Two Worlds
The date isn’t accidental.
Between Worlds arrives on the second evening of October, and organizers are leaning into the beginning of Halloween season with an atmosphere built around mystery, magic and connection.
But this isn’t a haunted attraction.
Nobody is waiting in the dark with a mask. There are no jump scares or elaborate horror sets. Instead, it’s aimed at adults interested in spending an October evening talking about intuition, unexplained experiences and the possibility — depending on what they believe — that there’s more going on around us than we ordinarily perceive.
Whether visitors arrive as believers, skeptics or somewhere between the two, curiosity is really the prerequisite.
