Anastasia at Niantic Bay Playhouse
Anastasia at Niantic Bay Playhouse brings the beloved Broadway musical to the shoreline from July 16 through August 1, inviting audiences on a sweeping journey filled with romance, mystery, and unforgettable music. Based on the Twentieth Century Fox animated film and inspired by the legend of Grand Duchess Anastasia Romanov, the musical follows a young woman searching for her identity while traveling from post-revolutionary Russia to Paris in the hope of discovering her past.
Featuring a book by Terrence McNally, music by Stephen Flaherty, and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, Anastasia combines beloved songs from the animated film, including “Journey to the Past,” with a score written specifically for the Broadway production. The result is a heartfelt story of courage, family, hope, and finding where you belong.
Presented by Niantic Bay Playhouse, the production offers multiple performances over three weekends, giving theater lovers several opportunities to experience this family-friendly musical in the intimate community theater setting.

About the Musical
Based on the 1997 animated film, Anastasia tells the story of Anya, a brave young woman who embarks on a journey from Russia to Paris to uncover the truth about her past. Along the way, she encounters adventure, romance, danger, and the possibility that she may be the lost Grand Duchess Anastasia Romanov.
