4th of July Parade in the Stonington Borough
4th of July Parade in the Stonington Borough invites residents and visitors to take part in one of the community’s most beloved Independence Day traditions. Unlike many parades where spectators simply watch from the sidelines, this long-standing celebration encourages everyone to join the procession as it winds through the historic streets of the Borough.
Families, friends, and visitors carrying flags, decorations, and plenty of patriotic spirit gather each year before making their way through the village. The parade is followed by the traditional reading of the Declaration of Independence in Wadawanuck Square, creating a celebration that blends community, history, and small-town charm.
After the festivities, participants can head to Mathews Park for the annual Ice Cream Social hosted by the Stonington Village Improvement Association. Together, the parade, Declaration reading, and ice cream social create one of the shoreline’s most treasured Fourth of July traditions.
