Meat Loaf’s Music Returns to the Stage

Bat Out of Helloween Brings Meat Loaf and Rocky Horror Classics to Foxwoods on Friday, October 16, for a theatrical rock concert featuring musicians who performed with the legendary singer himself.

This isn’t a conventional tribute band. The production features members of Meat Loaf’s longtime touring ensemble, The Neverland Express, joined by Andrew Polec, who originated the leading role of Strat in Bat Out of Hell: The Musical.

Together, they revisit the larger-than-life songs that made Meat Loaf one of rock’s most distinctive performers, before turning to the outrageous musical world of The Rocky Horror Show for a Halloween-season finale.

The Musicians Behind the Original Sound

At the heart of the production is guitarist and musical director Paul Crook, who worked extensively with Meat Loaf as a producer and longtime collaborator.

The lineup also features drummer John Miceli, bassist Danny Miranda, guitarist and vocalist Randy Flowers, and additional musicians and singers associated with Meat Loaf’s performances.

Their connection to the original artist is what sets this concert apart. Rather than simply imitating familiar recordings, the musicians bring firsthand experience performing the elaborate arrangements and dramatic compositions that defined Meat Loaf’s concerts.

Polec supplies the lead vocals and theatrical presence. His experience portraying Strat in the stage musical built around Jim Steinman’s songs makes him a natural fit for a performance that blends rock concert energy with musical theater.

Queen guitarist Brian May has praised the production for its authenticity, emphasizing that audiences are hearing musicians who actually played with Meat Loaf.

From Bat Out of Hell to Rocky Horror

The evening’s first portion celebrates the Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman songbook, including Bat Out of Hell, Paradise by the Dashboard Light and I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That).

Steinman’s compositions were never ordinary rock songs. Their sweeping arrangements, dramatic storytelling and explosive choruses helped turn Meat Loaf’s recordings into theatrical experiences.

The concert’s second set shifts into the music of The Rocky Horror Show, connecting two of rock theater’s most flamboyant traditions.

Meat Loaf famously appeared as Eddie in the 1975 film The Rocky Horror Picture Show, performing Hot Patootie – Bless My Soul. That connection provides the foundation for the show’s Halloween-themed combination of musical worlds.

The result promises an evening of soaring vocals, dramatic performances and the kind of unapologetically extravagant rock music that made both Bat Out of Hell and Rocky Horror enduring cultural favorites.

A Halloween-Season Rock Spectacle

Foxwoods’ Premier Theater provides a large-scale setting for the production, with reserved seating and the sound and lighting capabilities suited to a theatrical rock concert.

For longtime Meat Loaf fans, the opportunity to hear his music performed by musicians from his own band is the principal attraction. For Rocky Horror enthusiasts, the second set adds a fittingly theatrical twist just two weeks before Halloween.
