The pig roast takes place at the Misquamicut Ocean Bar, better known as the M.O.B., the beachfront bar and gathering spot at Sandy Shore Motel.

An All-You-Can-Eat Sunday Pig Roast

The centerpiece of the September 13 party is an all-you-can-eat pig roast, giving the M.O.B. a decidedly different Sunday menu for the occasion.

The event is being billed as more than a meal. Food will be accompanied by games and prizes throughout the afternoon, with DJ Mike Land handling the music from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The setup puts the party directly into the beach atmosphere that defines the M.O.B., rather than moving the event into a conventional banquet or restaurant space.

Sandy Shore Motel describes its bar as a beachside cocktail lounge with ocean views, live music and a casual atmosphere. Its location at the edge of Misquamicut Beach means the Atlantic is part of the backdrop.

DJ Mike Land will provide music throughout the four-hour event.

Rather than scheduling a separate evening performance after the meal, the music runs alongside the pig roast, games and other activities from 11 a.m. through 3 p.m.

That gives the afternoon the feel of an end-of-summer beach party, with guests free to eat, grab a drink, play games or simply stay by the water while the music continues.

A Beach Bar at the Sandy Shore Motel

The M.O.B. operates at Sandy Shore Motel, an oceanfront property that has been part of the Misquamicut beach strip for 25 years.

The motel marked its 25th anniversary in 2026 and sits directly along the shoreline at 149 Atlantic Avenue. In addition to its oceanfront accommodations, the property has developed its beach bar into a destination of its own.

Misquamicut Ocean Bar is positioned directly by the beach, with cocktails, food and live entertainment forming a major part of its identity during the warmer months.

That makes a pig roast a natural fit for the space. Instead of separating the cookout from the beach, the September event puts the two together.

Surftown Runners Get a Post-Race Discount

The timing also connects the pig roast with one of Westerly’s major September running events.

The Surftown Half Marathon takes place in the Misquamicut area the same weekend, and participants can receive $5 off admission to the pig roast.

Sandy Shore Motel guests receive the same $5 discount.

For runners, that creates a considerably less competitive second half of the day: finish the race, trade the course for the beach and head for the pig roast.

The discount applies to the event’s regular admission price rather than creating a separate ticket package.

Food, Games and Prizes by the Beach

The event flyer keeps the afternoon deliberately straightforward: food, fun, games and prizes.

There is no complicated schedule to follow. The party begins at 11 a.m., DJ Mike Land plays throughout the event, and the pig roast continues until 3 p.m.

Adults are $25, while children age 12 and younger are $15, making the afternoon open to families as well as adults spending a Sunday at the beach.
