Road to Revolution Boat Tour
Road to Revolution Boat Tour offers a unique way to experience the history of the Thames River during America’s 250th anniversary celebration. On Saturday, July 4, passengers will cruise the historic waterway while learning how the river shaped colonial commerce, military strategy, and everyday life leading up to the American Revolution.
Led by a knowledgeable docent, the narrated boat tour explores the Thames River’s role during the colonial era before focusing on one of southeastern Connecticut’s defining Revolutionary War events—the 1781 Battle of New London and Groton Heights. Guests will hear how Benedict Arnold’s raid on the region became one of the war’s most significant moments in Connecticut history while viewing many of the locations connected to the story from the water.
Designed for history enthusiasts, families, and anyone looking for a different way to celebrate Independence Day, the excursion welcomes guests of all ages. Visitors are encouraged to bring a cooler with their favorite beverages and snacks while enjoying an afternoon cruise along one of Connecticut’s most historic rivers.
