General Inquiries
What is The CT Beacon?
It’s a simple way to figure out what to do around here without wasting time. We look at what’s going on and keep what’s actually worth it.
How is this different than other local sites?
We don’t list everything. We make picks. If something doesn’t feel worth it, it doesn’t show up.
Is everything on this site an event?
No. Some posts are ideas, some are roundups, some are just easier ways to make a plan. Not everything has a time and place.
How often is the site updated?
All the time. New posts go up during the week, especially heading into the weekend.
Is The CT Beacon free?
Yes. Everything on the site is free to read, including our newsletters.
Do you only cover New London County?
No. We focus on this area, but we’re not locked into southeastern Connecticut. If it’s worth the trip, it can show up.
Contributions & Features
How often is new content published?
New posts go up during the week, with more heading into the weekend when people are actually making plans, while the newsletter goes out on Thursdays to give people enough time to make their plans.
Can I submit something to be featured?
Yes. If you have an event, opening, or something worth checking out, you can send it in. We take a look at everything, but we don’t include everything.
How do you decide what gets featured?
We pick what feels worth your time. If it’s a stretch, it doesn’t make it. Simple as that.
Do you offer sponsorship or advertising opportunities?
Yes. You can reach us at hello@stoningtonmedia.com.
But we don’t just plug things in. If it doesn’t feel like something people would actually want to do, it won’t show up.
Can I unsubscribe from the newsletter?
Yes, you can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our emails. One click, and you’re out.
What makes The CT Beacon different from other sites?
We don’t try to cover everything. We filter it. That’s the difference.
