Event Description

Stonington Vineyards invites families to celebrate Halloween and the beauty of autumn in Connecticut wine country on Saturday, October 24, with an afternoon of children’s activities, live music, cider, food, and tours of the vineyard and winery.

From 2 to 5 p.m., the Stonington winery will welcome visitors of all ages for a seasonal gathering that combines Halloween spirit with the relaxed atmosphere of a fall afternoon among the vines.

Children can enjoy crafts, complimentary cider, and a special appearance by a local children’s author, while adults can take in live music, explore the vineyard, and enjoy food from Woodfellas Pizza.

A Little Halloween Magic for the Kids

One of the afternoon’s special guests is children’s author Jane Carlson Pickering, whose book Have You Seen the Berry Monster? introduces young readers to a playful world of imagination.

Her appearance adds a literary element to the celebration, giving families an opportunity to discover a children’s book and meet the person behind the story.

Kids can also take part in craft activities designed to bring a little hands-on creativity to the Halloween festivities.

Free cider will be available for the younger guests, providing a seasonal treat while families enjoy the afternoon.

Organizers encourage everyone to come in the Halloween spirit, making costumes a welcome addition to the celebration.

Live Music With Ernie Lewis

Musician Ernie Lewis will perform throughout the event, from 2 to 5 p.m., providing the soundtrack for the afternoon.

Live music is a familiar part of the Stonington Vineyards experience, where visitors can enjoy performances in a setting surrounded by the natural beauty of the property.

The combination of music, autumn scenery, and family activities creates an inviting atmosphere for visitors who want to enjoy a few hours outdoors without the rush of a tightly scheduled festival.

Wood-Fired Pizza and Fall Refreshments

Woodfellas Pizza will be on-site serving food during the celebration.

Freshly prepared pizza offers an easy option for families looking to make an afternoon outing of the event, whether they’re stopping in for children’s activities or staying to enjoy the live performance.

For adults, Stonington Vineyards is known for its locally produced wines, made in one of Connecticut’s established wine-growing regions.

The winery’s setting offers a distinctly New England backdrop for an autumn gathering, with changing leaves, open vineyard views, and the cooler temperatures of late October.

Explore the Vineyard and Winery

Visitors will also have opportunities to take walking tours of the vineyard and winery throughout the afternoon.

These tours provide a closer look at the property and the environment where Stonington Vineyards produces its wines.

Late October is an especially interesting time to visit a vineyard, as the growing season winds down and the landscape transitions toward winter.

The rows of vines and surrounding countryside provide a scenic setting for families who want to enjoy the outdoors while learning a little about the local wine industry.

A Different Kind of Halloween Outing

Not every Halloween celebration needs haunted houses, jump scares, or late-night festivities.

Stonington Vineyards’ afternoon gathering offers a gentler alternative, with children’s crafts, cider, storytelling, music, and seasonal scenery taking center stage.

It’s an opportunity for families to enjoy Halloween together while spending time at one of southeastern Connecticut’s longtime wineries.

Whether you’re bringing young children for the crafts and author appearance, stopping by for the music and pizza, or simply looking for a scenic autumn outing, the celebration offers several ways to enjoy a Saturday afternoon.

Come in costume, bring the family, and enjoy a little Halloween spirit among the vines.
