A New Sunday Tradition on Misquamicut Beach
Beach Haus Social made its debut at Paddy’s over Memorial Day weekend with a grand opening on May 24.
From there, it became a recurring Sunday event running from 1 to 6 p.m.
Rather than simply adding another live band or DJ to Paddy’s regular beach schedule, Beach Haus was conceived as a separate dayclub-style experience built around electronic music.
The musical direction has centered on house, tech house and techno, with rotating DJs providing the soundtrack throughout the afternoon.
The concept borrows from the atmosphere of coastal clubs and electronic-music destinations where the party begins during daylight rather than waiting until late at night.
Here, the setting is distinctly Rhode Island: the decks and beach at Paddy’s on Atlantic Avenue with Misquamicut Beach directly outside.
House and Techno From 1 to 6 p.m.
The five-hour Sunday format has remained consistent throughout the season.
Beach Haus has emphasized house and techno rather than the mix of rock, reggae, country and cover bands commonly heard at beach bars around Southern New England.
That distinction helped give the series its own identity within Paddy’s larger summer entertainment calendar.
The organizers describe Beach Haus as a coastal dayclub driven by house music every Sunday, with music and the social atmosphere taking precedence over a traditional concert format.
There isn’t necessarily a single headlining performance everyone stops to watch.
The DJ sets provide a continuous soundtrack while the afternoon moves between drinks, dancing, the beach and the waterfront decks.
The Final Sunday of the 2026 Season
September 6 isn’t being promoted as simply another installment.
Beach Haus is calling it The Final Week, and its announcement describes Sunday as the last day of Beach Haus Social.
That brings the series full circle.
It launched over Memorial Day weekend, continued through June, July and August, and now ends during Labor Day weekend, essentially bookending the traditional Southern New England summer season.
For people who have been attending throughout the summer, it’s the final installment of the weekly series.
For anyone who hasn’t been, it’s the last opportunity this season to see what Beach Haus was trying to create on the Westerly shoreline.
A Dayclub Rather Than a Traditional Beach Bar
The distinction between Beach Haus and Paddy’s itself can be a little confusing.
Beach Haus isn’t a separate venue somewhere else in Westerly.
It operates at Paddy’s Beach Club, 159 Atlantic Avenue, directly on Misquamicut Beach.
The difference is the programming.
Paddy’s has long operated as a beachfront restaurant, bar and entertainment venue with live bands, DJs and other events throughout the summer.
Beach Haus Social takes over part of that environment and reshapes it around the dayclub concept.
Previous Sundays have included rotating DJs, house and techno programming, VIP table options and an early-afternoon hospitality component.
The result is meant to feel less like stopping at a beach bar for a drink and more like spending the afternoon at an organized electronic-music party.
One Last Sunday Before Summer Winds Down
The timing makes the finale particularly appropriate.
Labor Day weekend traditionally marks the beginning of the end for the busiest stretch of the Misquamicut season.
Beach businesses don’t suddenly disappear after Labor Day, and entertainment continues at several Westerly shoreline venues into September.
But the rhythm changes.
Weekly summer programming begins winding down, vacation traffic decreases and the beach gradually shifts toward its quieter shoulder season.
Beach Haus Social is ending its season at exactly that transition point.
The series started when summer was about to begin.
It finishes as summer starts giving the beach back.
