PLUSH at Wolf Den
PLUSH at Wolf Den brings the all-female rock band to Mohegan Sun on Thursday, August 13, for a free 21+ concert inside the Casino of the Earth. Led by Connecticut-born vocalist and guitarist Moriah Formica, PLUSH has built a national following with hard-rock originals, powerhouse vocals, and a live show that has put the band on stages alongside some of rock’s biggest names.
For Connecticut fans, this one has a home-state connection. Formica grew up in the Capital Region and first gained national attention as a teenager on NBC’s The Voice before forming PLUSH. The band has since moved well beyond its television connection, touring extensively and establishing itself as a rising force in contemporary hard rock.
The Wolf Den puts that sound into a much smaller room than PLUSH often plays. Admission is free, but seating is limited and first come, first served, making an early arrival particularly important for this show. About PLUSH
PLUSH emerged in 2020 with a mission to bring a new generation of women into the forefront of hard rock. The band is fronted by singer and guitarist Moriah Formica, whose powerful voice first reached a national audience when she competed on Season 13 of The Voice at just 16 years old.
Rather than building its reputation around covers, PLUSH quickly established an original catalog rooted in modern hard rock. The band’s self-titled debut arrived in 2021, followed by extensive touring that exposed the group to much larger audiences.
PLUSH has shared bills and toured with major rock acts including Evanescence, Halestorm, Disturbed, Alice in Chains, Daughtry and Seether, giving the band an unusually strong touring résumé for a relatively young act.
The result is a band that draws heavily from the muscular guitar sound of classic and modern hard rock without feeling like a throwback. Formica’s soaring vocals sit at the center, surrounded by heavy riffs, melodic hooks and the kind of arrangements built to get considerably louder when they’re played live.
Moriah Formica’s Connecticut Connection
This Wolf Den appearance also serves as something of a regional homecoming.
Formica was born in Connecticut before growing up in nearby upstate New York, and she began performing professionally while still in her teens. Her appearance on The Voice introduced her to millions of viewers, but her work with PLUSH has allowed her to develop a much heavier musical identity.
That makes the Mohegan Sun performance an opportunity to see an artist with local roots who has gone on to tour nationally with many of the bands that helped shape her sound.
What to Expect
PLUSH’s concerts lean into the heavier side of contemporary rock: big vocals, distorted guitars, hard-driving rhythms and songs designed for a live room.
Fans familiar with the band can expect original material from across its catalog, while newcomers who enjoy bands such as Halestorm and Evanescence should have a pretty good idea of the musical territory.
And because this is the Wolf Den, you’ll be seeing the band in a substantially more intimate environment than the arenas and amphitheaters where PLUSH has appeared as a touring support act.
Free Admission and First-Come Seating
There are no tickets required for the Wolf Den performance. Admission is free for guests 21 and older.
The tradeoff is that a seat isn’t guaranteed.
Wolf Den seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Guests may begin lining up no earlier than three hours before the show, meaning the earliest permitted lineup time for PLUSH is 5 p.m.
One person may hold up to four places in line, but everyone must be present when seating takes place.
