Books of the Thames takes guests onto the Thames River for a guided boat tour exploring the local history, literature, and waterfront sites that inspired famous books. Departing from Fort Trumbull State Park on Sunday, July 26, the excursion combines maritime history with stories connected to the river and the communities along its shores.

Led by history educator Julie Cagle, the tour brings colonial and maritime stories to life while offering passengers a new way to experience one of southeastern Connecticut’s most important waterways. Guests can listen to the guided presentation, take in the views, or simply relax and enjoy the breeze during the cruise.

Visitors of all ages are welcome. Guests may bring a cooler with their own beverages and snacks. Historic Boat Tours are weather-dependent, so travelers should check for the latest updates before heading to the dock.
