Steve Smith & The Nakeds w/ Special Guest Billy Gilman at the Rathskeller
Steve Smith & The Nakeds bring more than five decades of rhythm, blues, soul, and rock & roll to the Charlestown Rathskeller on Sunday, July 12, for an afternoon of live music featuring special guest Billy Gilman. The legendary Rhode Island band will perform from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Rathskeller’s popular outdoor venue, combining powerhouse horns, classic songs, and high-energy performances with one of the region’s most recognizable voices.
Founded in the early 1970s, Steve Smith & The Nakeds have become one of New England’s most enduring live bands. Inducted into the Rhode Island Music Hall of Fame in 2013, the 10-piece ensemble features a four-piece rhythm section, a five-piece horn section, and frontman Steve Smith. Over the years, the band has shared the stage with artists including Clarence Clemons of the E Street Band and has appeared on MTV and Family Guy.
Joining the band is Westerly native Billy Gilman, who rose to national fame at age 11 with his hit single One Voice. Gilman later introduced himself to a new generation of fans as the runner-up on Season 11 of The Voice. His appearance adds a hometown connection to an afternoon celebrating some of southern New England’s best-known musical talent.
