Mount Archer Trail Race

The 2nd Annual Mount Archer Trail Race returns to Lyme, Connecticut, inviting runners to take on one of the area’s most scenic and quietly challenging trail systems. Set around the wooded paths of Mount Archer, the race blends natural beauty with just enough elevation and terrain to keep things interesting. It’s the kind of course that feels approachable at first… until you realize it’s asking a little more from you, which is exactly the point.

Participants can choose between two distinct race options. The 9.2-mile “Moore Trail” follows the full George and Rosemary Moore Trail Loop, running counterclockwise across both the north and south sides of Mount Archer Road. It’s a longer, more demanding route that rewards endurance with sweeping views and a real sense of accomplishment. For those looking for something shorter, the 3-mile “Sprint” offers a quicker loop on the northern side, delivering a fast, fun introduction to the terrain without sacrificing the experience.

Race day keeps things simple and focused. Check-in and bib pickup begin at 7:00 AM, with the 9.2-mile race starting at 8:00 AM and the 3-mile race following at 8:15 AM. Registration is available online only and remains open through race day, making it easy to jump in whether you’ve been planning for weeks or deciding last minute. It’s a well-paced morning built around the trails, the challenge, and the shared energy of everyone lining up to take part.
