DESCRIPTION:Pride in the Park at Wilcox Park brings music\, community organizations\, live performances\, and Pride Month celebration energy to the center of Wilcox Park for an afternoon designed around inclusivity\, visibility\, and connection. Set among the historic pathways and gardens of downtown Westerly’s best-known public park\, the event combines music\, local nonprofits\, family-friendly activities\, and community gathering into a colorful outdoor celebration welcoming both local residents and visitors from across the region. With summer beginning to settle over the shoreline\, the atmosphere is expected to feel relaxed\, social\, and community-focused rather than formal or heavily programmed. \nOne of the day’s highlights will be the opening ceremony at noon featuring a performance by the Rhode Island Gay Men’s Chorus under the direction of Kim Kuda. Throughout the afternoon\, guests can explore booths and resources from local organizations while enjoying music from DJ Gadget and treats from Pompelmo Gelateria. The combination of live music\, shaded park space\, and community participation gives the event a welcoming festival atmosphere while also highlighting organizations and groups supporting LGBTQ+ visibility and wellbeing throughout southern Rhode Island and southeastern Connecticut. \nLocated just steps from downtown Westerly’s restaurants and shops\, Wilcox Park has become a natural gathering place for community celebrations\, concerts\, and public events throughout the year. Pride in the Park continues that tradition with an event focused on openness\, local connection\, and shared celebration during Pride Month.
