SUMMARY:“Art Is in the Air” – Noank CT Home & Garden Tour
DESCRIPTION:Brush up on your gardening gloves and dust off your walking shoes this summer. “Art is in the Air” – A Noank\, CT Home & Garden Tour gives you the opportunity to spend an afternoon touring one of Connecticut’s most charming coastal villages AND benefit an organization near and dear to our hearts—the Noank Historical Society. June 27 will be spent touring privately owned homes and gardens on a self-guided walking tour. Participating homes and gardens have been selected for their architectural significance and beautifully landscaped grounds. What better place to paint than out in the open? Many artists will be on hand painting the village’s scenic landscapes and historic homes while visitors tour. \nWhile Noank may be best known as a fishing village and a center for boatbuilding\, it was also a quietly influential art colony at the turn of the twentieth century. Henry Ward Ranger\, Robert Brackman\, Lars Thorsen and Reynolds Beal are just a few of the artists who vacationed or settled in Noank and found endless inspiration in waterfront views\, historic homes\, farms and the working harbor. The Tour celebrates not only Noank’s artistic history\, but the varied architectural styles of homes built by sailors who traveled to distant ports and brought back with them ideas and creative influences from around the globe. \nThere will be something for art enthusiasts\, garden aficionados\, history buffs\, and anyone who loves to discover unique spots along the CT shoreline. From gardens to artists painting “en plein air” to local history\, you will not want to miss this special opportunity to step back in time and experience one of SE Connecticut’s treasured coastal villages. \nParking at Esker Point Beach \n  \n

SUMMARY:Sound Sails 2026 Season Opens
DESCRIPTION:Sound Sails 2026 Season Opens on May 29 as private sailing charters return to the waters around Mystic\, Noank\, and Fishers Island Sound for another summer along the southeastern Connecticut shoreline. Departing from Noank\, Sound Sails Mystic offers private experiences designed for couples\, families\, and small groups looking to spend time on the water without the crowded feeling of larger public cruises. The charters move through the Mystic River and out into Fishers Island Sound with views of Watch Hill\, Fishers Island\, and Groton Long Point along the way. \nWhat makes the experience stand out is the slower pace and quieter atmosphere once the boat reaches open water. On many charters\, the engine can be shut off completely so the boat moves only by wind power\, creating the kind of calm that’s increasingly hard to find during a busy New England summer weekend. Whether guests are longtime sailors or stepping aboard for the first time\, the trips are built around flexibility and comfort rather than rigid tour schedules. \nSound Sails Mystic says every charter is customized around the group’s preferred pace\, making the experience feel more personal and relaxed than traditional sightseeing cruises. With the summer boating season beginning to ramp up around Mystic and Noank\, the opening of the 2026 charter season marks another sign that shoreline life is shifting fully into warm-weather mode. \nHighlights: \n\nPrivate sailing charters\nDepartures from Noank\nMystic River and Fishers Island Sound routes\nViews of Watch Hill\, Fishers Island\, and Groton Long Point\nWind-powered sailing experience on many charters\nDesigned for couples\, families\, and small groups\nCustomized private experiences\nSuitable for all ages and experience levels\n\n  \nSound Sails\n(860) 451-9333 \n

SUMMARY:Noank Memorial Day Parade
DESCRIPTION:Noank Memorial Day Parade returns Monday\, May 25\, beginning at 10 a.m. on Main Street before looping through the village and concluding at Noank Valley Cemetery for a Memorial Day ceremony honoring fallen service members. The annual shoreline tradition brings together veterans groups\, local families\, and residents beneath American flags and the quiet maritime atmosphere that defines the historic village of Noank. Parade route closures are expected beginning around 9:15 a.m. as the community gathers for one of the area’s longstanding Memorial Day observances. \nThis year’s ceremony will feature retired U.S. Navy Capt. Mike Hewitt as the guest speaker. Hewitt\, who served in the Navy from 1964 through 1990 and commanded multiple submarines during his career\, plans to reflect on military sacrifice\, the region’s submarine history\, and the deep connection between Noank\, Groton\, Electric Boat\, and the Navy’s submarine community. \nThe Noank Memorial Day Parade continues to balance the atmosphere of a traditional New England village gathering with the deeper purpose of remembrance and reflection. Following the parade\, attendees will gather at Noank Valley Cemetery\, where veterans from generations of American conflicts are honored in a ceremony rooted in gratitude\, community history\, and military service. \n
