The performance is part of the lead-up to Marsalis’ final season as Artistic Director of Jazz at Lincoln Center and Music Director of the renowned orchestra\, making this a particularly meaningful opportunity for jazz fans to experience one of the most influential figures in American music. \nLed by Pulitzer Prize-winning trumpeter\, composer\, educator\, and cultural ambassador Wynton Marsalis\, the 15-member Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra has served as the resident orchestra of Jazz at Lincoln Center since 1988. Known for its extraordinary musicianship and versatility\, the ensemble performs everything from historic jazz masterworks by Duke Ellington\, Count Basie\, Thelonious Monk\, Charles Mingus\, and Dizzy Gillespie to contemporary compositions and original works created by members of the orchestra itself. \nMarsalis\, a New Orleans native and graduate of The Juilliard School\, is widely regarded as one of the most important figures in modern jazz.
