DESCRIPTION:The First Friday Art Crawl in Downtown Westerly brings together local artists\, galleries\, artist studios\, creative spaces and more throughout downtown Westerly’s arts district on the first Friday of every month. Typically from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and often later\, visitors can stroll between galleries\, artists studios and creative spaces to experience all Westerly (and spilling over into Pawcatuck) has to offer. \n \nVisitors can enjoy painters\, photographers\, sculptors\, ceramicists\, jewelry makers\, graphic designers\, illustrators\, mixed media and many other types of artists and art forms during the First Friday Art Crawl. One of Downtown Westerly’s main attractions\, the evening Art Crawl allows visitors to stroll between participating locations while meeting artists\, viewing new work and enjoying the creativity that flourishes in downtown Westerly. Many of these locations are galleries\, artist studios\, restaurants and community spaces that open their doors for guests to enjoy art\, conversation and yummy food while supporting local creatives. \nArt enthusiasts\, date night seekers\, families\, and more enjoy the First Friday Art Crawl. Beginning as a simple art stroll downtown in the early 2000’s\, the First Friday Art Crawl has developed into a monthly celebration of local artists and businesses that continues to thrive. The festival showcases close to 270 artists from around the country with over a mile of fine arts and crafts\, including oils\, watercolors\, photography\, textiles\, sculpture\, woodwork\, acrylics\, and more.  \nThe Mystic Outdoor Art Festival is free to the public and features activities and artwork for all ages to enjoy\, including a Children’s Art Park\, Children’s Art Installation\, and a Performing Arts Stage. Located at Mystic Seaport Museum\, the Performing Arts Stage features a variety of local and regional performers\, including dance\, music\, and theater.
