SUMMARY:Sip ‘N’ Spin Pottery Workshops (21+)
DESCRIPTION:Sip ‘N’ Spin Pottery Workshops offer a hands-on creative night for adults looking to trade screens and stress for clay\, conversation\, and a little wine on Fridays through the summer. Designed as a relaxed social workshop for ages 21 and over\, the event combines pottery instruction with a bring-your-own-drink atmosphere that turns the evening into part art class\, part night out. \nThe workshop begins with a professional wheel-throwing demonstration before participants move into creating their own pottery pieces either on the wheel or through handbuilding techniques. Instructors guide guests through the process step-by-step\, making the experience approachable even for complete beginners who have never touched a pottery wheel before. Clay and firing for up to three finished creations are included as part of the workshop. \nWhat makes Sip ‘N’ Spin stand out is the balance between creativity and atmosphere. Rather than a formal class setting\, the evening leans into a casual\, social energy where guests can laugh through uneven bowls\, experiment with clay\, and enjoy drinks while trying something new. Whether it turns into date night\, friends night out\, or simply an excuse to unplug for a couple of hours\, the workshop offers one of the more unique creative experiences happening on the shoreline this month. \n

SUMMARY:Frosty Drew Observatory and Science Center's Stargazing Nights
DESCRIPTION:Frosty Drew Observatory and Science Center’s Stargazing Nights turn a quiet Friday evening in Ninigret Park into one of the most atmospheric experiences in southern New England. Hosted by Frosty Drew Observatory & Science Center\, the weekly gathering invites visitors to explore the night sky through powerful telescopes while astronomers guide guests across planets\, star clusters\, distant galaxies\, and the glowing band of the Milky Way overhead. Under some of the darkest skies in Rhode Island\, the experience feels less like a formal science program and more like stumbling into a community of people quietly obsessed with the universe. \nAs darkness settles over Ninigret Park\, visitors can expect views that change depending on the season and sky conditions\, often including Saturn’s rings\, Jupiter’s moons\, the cratered surface of the Moon\, and deep space objects rarely visible in brighter suburban areas. The observatory’s Sky Theatre and telescope stations create an immersive environment where curious first-timers mingle with amateur astronomers and longtime stargazers. There’s something strangely calming about standing in near silence while strangers take turns peering into the cosmos\, especially on clear summer nights when the Milky Way stretches visibly across the sky. \nThe observatory typically opens around 8:30 p.m. on Friday nights and remains active through at least 10:30 p.m.\, sometimes later depending on weather and viewing conditions. Because the event is weather dependent\, updates are posted on the day of the event before 3 p.m. Organizers also note that Ninigret Park’s dark sky rules prohibit white light use after dusk in order to protect night vision and sensitive astronomical equipment\, giving the entire area an almost surreal glow of dim red lights and shadowy pathways. SUMMARY:Horseshoe Crab Community Science Program – Project Limulus
DESCRIPTION:Horseshoe Crab Community Science Program – Project Limulus gives participants a rare opportunity to contribute to real scientific research while getting an up-close look at one of the planet’s oldest surviving species. Hosted by The Watch Hill Conservancy\, this program marks the organization’s 20th year participating in Project Limulus\, a long-running effort to monitor horseshoe crab populations throughout the region. \nOften called “living fossils\,” horseshoe crabs have existed for hundreds of millions of years and continue to play a vital role in coastal ecosystems. Volunteers assist researchers by surveying spawning activity along the shoreline during the high tides associated with new and full moons\, when horseshoe crabs are most likely to come ashore. The data collected helps scientists track population trends and better understand the health of these remarkable animals. \nParticipants should be prepared for a physically demanding field experience that may involve walking up to two miles\, often in shallow water\, while conducting observations and collecting data. Surveys can last anywhere from 90 minutes to four hours depending on conditions and the number of horseshoe crabs encountered. \nEvent Details\nDate: Saturday\, June 27\, 2026\nTime: 8:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.\nLocation: Napatree Point Conservation Area\, Fort Road\, Westerly\, RI \nHighlights\n\nParticipate in Project Limulus community science research\nObserve horseshoe crabs during spawning season\nContribute valuable conservation data\nLearn about one of Earth’s oldest surviving species\nGuided by experienced conservation staff\n\nGood to Know\n\nParticipants must be at least 12 years old\nMaximum of six volunteers per survey\nSurveys may involve up to two miles of walking\nWalking in approximately one foot of water is common\nSurvey duration can range from 1.5 to 4 hours\nRegistration is required. SUMMARY:Horseshoe Crab Family Walk at Napatree Point
DESCRIPTION:Horseshoe Crab Family Walk at Napatree Point invites families and nature lovers to explore one of the shoreline’s most fascinating ancient species during a guided outdoor experience on Saturday\, May 30\, June 13\, and June 27 from 9 to 10 a.m. Hosted at the Napatree Point Conservation Area beach entrance on Fort Road in Westerly\, the free program gives participants a chance to learn about horseshoe crabs and their unique role in the coastal ecosystem surrounding Little Narragansett Bay. Presented by The Watch Hill Conservancy\, the walk combines environmental education with a relaxed outdoor experience along one of SW Rhode Island’s most scenic coastal landscapes. \nDuring the guided walk\, participants will discover why horseshoe crabs are often referred to as “living fossils\,” having survived for more than 300 million years. The program also explores the species’ importance to modern medical research as well as their ecological significance to Napatree Point and the surrounding shoreline environment. Set against the dunes\, beaches\, and saltwater views of the conservation area\, the event offers a hands-on opportunity to better understand one of the region’s most unusual and historically resilient marine species. \nDesigned for all ages\, the Horseshoe Crab Family Walk is structured as a 60-minute program\, allowing attendees to take advantage of free parking along Bay Street while spending part of the morning outdoors near the water. Light rain will not cancel the walk\, though severe weather may lead to cancellation notifications by email. Registration is required. \n

SUMMARY:Stonington Village Farmers Market
DESCRIPTION:Stonington Village Farmers Market has become one of the defining Saturday morning traditions along the Connecticut shoreline\, bringing together local farms\, food vendors\, artisans\, musicians\, and neighbors inside and outside the historic Velvet Mill. Running year-round since becoming a permanent seasonal fixture in 2008\, the market transforms with the seasons\, moving outdoors during the warmer months and indoors during late fall and winter while continuing to serve as a gathering place for the community. \nThe market offers far more than produce stands. Visitors can browse locally grown vegetables and fruits\, cheeses\, baked goods\, meats\, seafood\, maple syrup\, flowers\, mushrooms\, prepared foods\, and handmade crafts while live music plays in the background. The atmosphere feels distinctly coastal New England\, blending small-town community energy with the creativity and food culture that defines Stonington Village. Families\, dog owners\, and longtime locals mingle throughout the morning while vendors showcase everything from handmade soaps and pottery to organic kombucha and Mediterranean cuisine. \nWhat makes the Stonington Village Farmers Market stand out is how deeply connected it feels to the rhythm of the region itself. Some visitors arrive early for greenhouse spinach or fresh seafood before it sells out\, while others come simply to wander with coffee in hand and reconnect with neighbors. Between the local farmers\, prepared food vendors\, musicians\, and rotating artisan booths\, the market has evolved into more than a shopping destination. It has become a weekly community ritual that reflects the character\, creativity\, and agricultural roots of southeastern Connecticut. \nParticipating Vendors & Farms \n\nAPIS VERDI\nBroad Brook Acres\nDavis Farm\nISSA Catering\nJon Fish\nSeacoast Mushrooms\nSugar Maple Farms\nSweet Acre Farm\nWakin’ Up Waggin’\n18th Century Purity Farm\nStonyledge Farm and Studio Farm Products\nSummer Hill Catering\nCato Corner Farm\nTreatzles\nFiber + Mud\nYALLA\n\nSponsors & Organizers \n\nStonington Village Improvement Association (SVIA)\nVelvet Mill\n\n

SUMMARY:“Art Is in the Air” – Noank CT Home & Garden Tour
DESCRIPTION:Brush up on your gardening gloves and dust off your walking shoes this summer. “Art is in the Air” – A Noank\, CT Home & Garden Tour gives you the opportunity to spend an afternoon touring one of Connecticut’s most charming coastal villages AND benefit an organization near and dear to our hearts—the Noank Historical Society. June 27 will be spent touring privately owned homes and gardens on a self-guided walking tour. Participating homes and gardens have been selected for their architectural significance and beautifully landscaped grounds. What better place to paint than out in the open? Many artists will be on hand painting the village’s scenic landscapes and historic homes while visitors tour. \nWhile Noank may be best known as a fishing village and a center for boatbuilding\, it was also a quietly influential art colony at the turn of the twentieth century. Henry Ward Ranger\, Robert Brackman\, Lars Thorsen and Reynolds Beal are just a few of the artists who vacationed or settled in Noank and found endless inspiration in waterfront views\, historic homes\, farms and the working harbor. The Tour celebrates not only Noank’s artistic history\, but the varied architectural styles of homes built by sailors who traveled to distant ports and brought back with them ideas and creative influences from around the globe. \nThere will be something for art enthusiasts\, garden aficionados\, history buffs\, and anyone who loves to discover unique spots along the CT shoreline. From gardens to artists painting “en plein air” to local history\, you will not want to miss this special opportunity to step back in time and experience one of SE Connecticut’s treasured coastal villages. \nParking at Esker Point Beach \n  \n
