SUMMARY:Brickwrecks: Sunken Ships in LEGO Bricks
DESCRIPTION:Brickwrecks: Sunken Ships in LEGO Bricks drops visitors into centuries of maritime mystery and disaster at Mystic Seaport Museum.. The internationally touring exhibition combines massive LEGO® ship recreations with real maritime history\, creating an experience that feels part museum exhibit\, part interactive adventure. As the first American stop for the exhibition\, Mystic Seaport becomes the latest host for a showcase that has previously appeared at major maritime museums in Europe and Australia. \nThe exhibit features eleven detailed LEGO® models recreating famous shipwrecks and maritime disasters spanning thousands of years\, including the Titanic\, the Vasa\, Franklin’s Arctic expedition ships Terror and Erebus\, and the ancient Uluburun trading vessel. Created in partnership with LEGO® Certified Professional Ryan “The Brickman” McNaught\, the displays combine historical storytelling with surprisingly intricate engineering and visual detail. Some models even include cross-section cutaways revealing what happened beneath the waterline. \nInteractive experiences throughout the exhibit invite visitors to test survival scenarios\, operate a remote underwater vehicle\, experiment with ship stability\, and build LEGO® creations of their own. Alongside the models are replica artifacts\, archaeological tools\, and multimedia displays exploring how modern researchers investigate shipwrecks and what those discoveries reveal about trade\, exploration\, disaster\, and human history. The result is an exhibit that works equally well for families\, history buffs\, LEGO® fans\, and anyone who still secretly wants to touch every museum display. \n

DESCRIPTION:At a Glance\nWhat: Fall Frostbite Racing Series\, a six-week recreational sailing and racing program\nWhen: Saturdays\, October 17–November 21\, 2026\, 1–3 p.m.\nRemaining Dates: October 24 and 31; November 7\, 14\, and 21\nLocation: Mystic Seaport Museum\, 75 Greenmanville Avenue\, Mystic\, CT\nActivity: Sailing and racing Dyer Dhows on the Mystic River\nExperience Level: All skill levels welcome\nAges: All ages\nCapacity: 25 participants\nMember Admission: $166 for the complete six-session series; $28 per individual session\nNonmember Admission: $207 for the complete series; $35 per individual session\nRegistration: Advance registration required; full-series registration available online\nSingle-Session Registration: Email reservations@mysticseaport.org\nWeather: Late-fall outdoor sailing; contact the museum regarding weather-related changes\nOrganizer: Mystic Seaport Museum\nContact: (860) 572-0711 \nEvent Description\nThe 2026 Fall Frostbite Racing Series at Mystic Seaport Museum invites sailors to embrace the cooler weather and keep their sailing skills sharp during six Saturday afternoons on the Mystic River\, from October 17 through November 21. \nWhile many recreational boaters begin putting their vessels away for winter\, this program takes advantage of one of late autumn’s defining characteristics: plenty of wind. \nParticipants will sail and race Dyer Dhows in a friendly\, supportive environment designed to welcome sailors of all skill levels. \nSailing Season Isn’t Over Yet\nAutumn brings a different character to the Mystic River. Summer’s busy waterfront gives way to cooler temperatures\, changing foliage\, and brisker winds that can make sailing both challenging and rewarding. \nFor sailors who enjoy the technical side of the sport\, those conditions offer an opportunity to practice boat handling\, sail trim\, and racing tactics. \nThe Fall Frostbite Racing Series is built around that experience\, encouraging participants to remain active on the water rather than waiting for spring to return. \nEach Saturday session runs from 1 to 3 p.m.\, giving sailors two hours to practice\, compete\, and enjoy the river. \nSmall Boats\, Big Sailing Experience\nThe program uses Dyer Dhows\, compact sailing dinghies well suited to hands-on sailing instruction and small-boat racing. \nUnlike larger sailboats\, where responsibilities may be divided among several crew members\, small dinghies demand close attention to wind direction\, balance\, steering\, and sail control. \nThat makes them particularly useful for developing fundamental sailing skills. \nEven experienced sailors can benefit from time in smaller boats\, where changes in wind and boat handling produce immediate results. \nThe racing format adds another dimension\, giving participants a chance to practice decision-making and tactics while sharing the water with other sailors. \nA Welcoming Program for Different Skill Levels\nAlthough the series includes racing\, it is not restricted to highly experienced competitors. \nMystic Seaport Museum describes the program as a fun and supportive environment open to sailors of all skill levels. \nThat approach makes the series appealing to people who want to develop confidence on the water\, improve their technique\, or simply enjoy the camaraderie of sailing with others. \nThe program is open to all ages\, with enrollment limited to 25 participants. \nThe smaller group size helps maintain an atmosphere centered on participation and skill development. \nSix Saturdays of Autumn Racing\nThe complete series runs from October 17 through November 21\, with sessions scheduled every Saturday afternoon. \nFor those unable to commit to all six weeks\, individual-session registration is also available. \nMuseum members pay $166 for the full series or $28 per session. Nonmembers pay $207 for the complete program or $35 per session. \nOnline registration is offered for the six-session package. Sailors interested in individual dates should contact Mystic Seaport Museum’s Central Reservations department by email. \nBecause the program takes place outdoors in late autumn\, participants should prepare for cooler temperatures and changing conditions on the water. \nExperience the Mystic River in a Different Season\nMystic Seaport Museum is best known for its historic vessels\, maritime exhibits\, and recreated coastal village\, but its waterfront programs also keep the traditions of sailing alive through direct participation. \nThe Fall Frostbite Racing Series offers a different way to experience the museum and the river\, trading summer crowds for autumn breezes and the excitement of small-boat racing. \nFor sailors who aren’t quite ready to call it a season\, the message is simple: there’s still plenty of sailing left to enjoy. \nTo purchase tickets\, click the Event Ticketing link below. \n\nFeatured image is an artistic representation inspired by the event and may not depict the actual people\, location\, or activities shown. \nReference Links\nEvent Ticketing: \nMuseum Website: https://mysticseaport.org/ \n\n\n\nTighten the event descriptionMake the opening more compelling
