Spectators typically line the downtown route as marching groups and participants move through the historic streets of Norwich beneath American flags and the atmosphere of the holiday weekend. \nThe Norwich Memorial Day Parade blends the civic energy of a larger city procession with the reflective purpose at the heart of Memorial Day itself. Veterans organizations\, community groups\, and local participants come together to honor those who lost their lives in military service while continuing a tradition that remains deeply connected to Norwich’s history and military heritage. The route through downtown toward Chelsea Parade places the observance in the center of one of eastern Connecticut’s most historic urban settings. \nFollowing the parade\, the public is invited to remain at Chelsea Parade for the Memorial Day Ceremony beginning at approximately 1 p.m. near the war monuments.
